When you try to send or receive messages using Outlook Express, you may receive error message as below.
"An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'Example', Server: 'example.mail.domain.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure (SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0133 " This behavior can occur if the Folders.dbx file is missing, damaged, using the read-only attribute, or over sizing(up to 2GB). Usually it will happen at inbox.dbx.
To remedy
follow one of these instruction below
Try to restart the computer, if the problem persists, please follow the following steps. - Go to “Tools” > “Options” > “Maintenance” tab > Click “Store Folder”. It will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files.
- Close Outlook Express, goto the location mentioned above. You may copy the location and paste it in the “Start” > “Run” and click “Ok”.
- make the folder for each contact person, filter for the ontact pers
- Rename “inbox.dbx” to “oldinbox.dbx” or name that you prefer.
- Restart the Outlook Express, This creates a new inbox.dbx file automatically.
Recovery old emails You may recover back the old emails by try the following, if they are not corrupt or damage.
- In Outlook Express, right click on the local folders icon in the folder list.
- Click on New Folder, named it to “Old Inbox”.
- Search for oldinbox.dbx.
- The old emails should be inside the oldinbox.dbx right now.
or It may be possible to fix the problem using these steps :
- Open Outlook Express
- Click "Local Folders" in the left side navigation
- Select New Folder and name it TEMP
- If possible move all of the email from your Inbox to the TEMP folder
- Go to menu bar and select Tools -> Options -> Maintenance -> Store Folder and then write down the location of your inbox
- Close Outlook Express,
- Use My Computer to go to the location is step 5 and then delete the file inbox.dbx
- Open Outlook Express - The Inbox folder should be auto recreated.
- Move your email from the TEMP folder back to your Inbox.
note : this error is still possible to comeback again. to avoid this error, i sugested to always create a subfolder in the inbox if you have a new contact and filter it and don't let your inbox and sent item size over 2GB or nearby.
